The American Institute of Architecture‘s Portland affiliate will host the third installment in the city’s yearly Architecture + Design Festival this fall, with an official opening party September 29 and a full docket of design-world events all over town running through the month of October. This year’s hoopla coincides with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Oregon AIA chapter, to be commemorated with a special exhibition debuting at the Portland Center for Architecture on opening night.

Other festival highlights for the month include the Design Matters home tour, which will take a look inside six exceptional contemporary residences in the area; a neighborhood walk through the historic district of Reedwood, near the campus of Reed College; an evening of studio visits, wine, and canapes with three prominent local firms; and multiple forums, film screenings, and lectures.

Awards ceremonies are also a major part of the itinerary: the IIDA Awards will be announced October 20, honoring outstanding interior design work in the Northwest region, to be followed October 21 by the Young Designers Award, which recognizes the work of architects 30 and under. Architecture fans will even be able to get a sneak peak behind the scenes to see how the Portland AIA doles out its annual prizes, when several distinguished designers who make the award selections will be on hand for a special Evening With the Jury on October 26.
